Three Simple Secrets of Enthusiasm
What makes you excited? What gets you out of bed in the morning? What creates that childlike feeling of joy? Enthusiasm is energetic interest applied to a particular subject or activity. This spark of excitement inspires action and internal motivation. It is easy to have this feeling when we are doing something we love, yet applying enthusiasm to the drudgery of day to day tasks can create a more abundant and exciting life! Here are three simple tips to get you started and build your enthusiasm tools!
- Small Steps into Big Celebration
When we are forced to look at a huge daunting task, like writing a book, or cleaning out the garage, it can be difficult to keep the energy high. When we start we have all the energy in the world if we are seeing the joy of a completed project, yet the further away that goal is, the less excited we become. Instead, celebrate each small step along the way. Finish an hour of cleaning? Celebrate with a dance party! Complete a chapter on your book? Share it with a friend!
- Musical Motivation
We have all heard the saying; “whistle while you work.”. Maybe not all of us can whistle, yet music can be very helpful. Putting on some peppy tunes, or singing along while you work can be very motivating and help keep your energy up.
- Buddy System
Find an accountability partner. This is someone who will be your cheerleader while you do the same for him or her. If you can work in the same space that is even more exciting, yet not required. Text, call, or meet up with one another to celebrate wins throughout the day, week, or month.
